The Price is Wrong
The Game
The Price is Wrong is an educational game built in Flash. It is designed to raise student awareness of the complications involved with increasing publisher costs and restrictions to open-access information. Similar to the Price is Right, users bid on scholarly journals as contestants, and play minigames to learn about journal items.
I worked as a paid intern at McMaster Unversity's Mills Library for a summer, where I created the game.
My Role
I created all of the visual assets, and did all of the programming. I also found sound assets for the game from several databases of material. I designed the look of the game, and how each minigame is played.
What I Learned
I learned what it takes to create a casual game from scratch; from its initial concept to its final release. I also learned that bug fixing needs a lot of time allotted into a project's timeline. Furthermore, I learned that a product's audience must always be considered at all times when designing a game, specifically when it comes to setting the game's challenge.
