Gameworlds

Spring 2006

The Game

Gameworlds is an interactive essay that discusses the organization of levels and worlds within digital games. It classifies game worlds based on the user experience. Users reach the content by traversing through a Super Mario 3 aesthetic.

My Role

I was the main writer on Gameworlds, and was a key part of the project's concept development. I also produced the "levels" graphics and recreated the Super Mario 3 sprites in Flash.

What I Learned

I learned that compelling content can be sucessfully delivered in an interactive way. I also learned more about games and how they are organized, and how limited studies involving videogames are. We broke new ground in serious game studies, and contributed to the dialog as to how games present themselves to users.
